Cloud Operations Manager | Dublin

The Role

The Cloud Operations Manager/Director will lead the day-to-day operations for the iQuate iQCloud (SaaS) team. As a new role in the company, this individual will fill a critical role in our rapidly expanding cloud based business. The successful candidate will be responsible for building out the team, from systems and processes selection and implementation, to the team structure and set up. The primary focus areas for the role will be security, cost, and systems management. This individual is responsible for maximizing the quality of the production operations service to exceed the contractual SLAs (e.g., performance, availability, RTO, RPO) for each of our customers. Additionally, this individual will ensure that the that the client environments and supporting operational processes are mature and secure; and that our deep consideration for continuous improvement and deployment operational principles are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all critical business KPIs are met on behalf of the iQuate business and our clients. (e.g. performance, uptime, efficiency, ticket processing, other SLAs, etc.).
  • Administer and maintain the cloud environment for the iQuate iQCloud clients
  • Understand the architecture of our Cloud System and the role of each component
  • Responsible for release/deployments in the Cloud without interruption of services
  • Responsible for Cloud Security, including instance, container, cloud and network security
  • Responsible for managing AWS spend
  • Responsible for our Cloud System SLA
  • Responsible for Cloud network architecture (AWS VPC, VPN, etc.)
  • Anticipate Issues and take proactive actions for replacing eventual unhealthy nodes
  • Set up/create monitoring mechanisms with alerting (Grafana, Pagerduty, etc.)
  • Automate maintenance tasks through scripting/tooling
  • Define and practice backup strategy for fast system recovery in case of disaster
  • Design, write and test disaster recovery plans
  • Respond to disasters, minimize downtime and data loss while recovering the system
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Development and Engineering teams to improve performance, security, deployment, and disaster recovery
  • Create and manage 24x7x365 on-call rotation
  • Manage the plan, actuals, issues and risks associated with a rapidly increasing infrastructure team and budget.
  • Ownership and maintenance of cloud policies including Data management, DR, Security, etc..
  • Foster a spirit of camaraderie and inclusion within the iQCloud team

Skills and Experience

  • Deep experience in the understanding of cloud technology providers, preferably Amazon AWS.
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services (IAM, ECS, S3, EC2, VPC, Cost, CloudFront,…)
  • Experience with contemporary DevOps and Continuous Delivery techniques.
  • Minimum 8 years managing production support for core, business critical, 24×7 systems (preferably cloud based).
  • Demonstrated leadership in the design and run of SaaS operations for a medium to large software organization.
  • Leadership experience in high stress situations (e.g., outages, degradations, disaster recovery)
  • Knowledge / Experience with reporting and controls e.g. SAS70 (SSAE 16) desirable or ISO, ITIL.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Experience managing and implementing Cloud architectures in a DevOps/Agile methodology
  • Experience managing and developing a team

The Role

We are looking for people who are passionate and take full ownership for their work, projects, and want to be part of a transparent and collaborative culture. The product owner will have overall responsibility for one of the products in the iQuate product suite. The product owner will create all internal and external documentation, including requirements documentation, for the product to outline and define the technical solution. The role will also involve liaising with iQuate product managers and engineers. 

This role requires prior experience working with multi tiers cloud-based technologies in a software company, ideally in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritise product backlog in collaboration with the Product Manager 
  • Work with the team to document technical user stories that are deliverable within a 2-week sprint that have very clear and testable acceptance criteria that developers/QA engineers can interpret and deliver 
  • Work with Product Management to plan Sprint scope 
  • Align development sprints with product strategy 
  • Track Sprint progress and address product roadblocks 
  • Attend daily stand-ups with Development and Support teams, monitor progress and provide updates as requested 
  • Lead backlog grooming to enable task breakdown and estimation 
  • Manage all product feature/stories updates in Jira 
  • Estimate business value of requested features 
  • Actively participate on Agile team to help improve processes and attend sprint planning, Demos and retrospective ceremonies for continued improvement 
  • Participate in sprint demos and validate releases prior to GA

The Candidate

Reporting to the iQSonar Development Manager, the candidate will join the Scan Engine Product Development Team in providing both internal and external software releases. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills with the ability to research application technology areas and share same between team members. As an integral part of the team, the candidate must be a team player with key attributes such as flexibility, self-motivation and a proactive attitude.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Product Owner or a similar role, ideally in an agile software development environment

About the role
