Cloud Operations Manager | Dublin

The Role

The Cloud Operations Manager/Director will lead the day-to-day operations for the iQuate iQCloud (SaaS) team. As a new role in the company, this individual will fill a critical role in our rapidly expanding cloud based business. The successful candidate will be responsible for building out the team, from systems and processes selection and implementation, to the team structure and set up. The primary focus areas for the role will be security, cost, and systems management. This individual is responsible for maximizing the quality of the production operations service to exceed the contractual SLAs (e.g., performance, availability, RTO, RPO) for each of our customers. Additionally, this individual will ensure that the that the client environments and supporting operational processes are mature and secure; and that our deep consideration for continuous improvement and deployment operational principles are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all critical business KPIs are met on behalf of the iQuate business and our clients. (e.g. performance, uptime, efficiency, ticket processing, other SLAs, etc.).
  • Administer and maintain the cloud environment for the iQuate iQCloud clients
  • Understand the architecture of our Cloud System and the role of each component
  • Responsible for release/deployments in the Cloud without interruption of services
  • Responsible for Cloud Security, including instance, container, cloud and network security
  • Responsible for managing AWS spend
  • Responsible for our Cloud System SLA
  • Responsible for Cloud network architecture (AWS VPC, VPN, etc.)
  • Anticipate Issues and take proactive actions for replacing eventual unhealthy nodes
  • Set up/create monitoring mechanisms with alerting (Grafana, Pagerduty, etc.)
  • Automate maintenance tasks through scripting/tooling
  • Define and practice backup strategy for fast system recovery in case of disaster
  • Design, write and test disaster recovery plans
  • Respond to disasters, minimize downtime and data loss while recovering the system
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Development and Engineering teams to improve performance, security, deployment, and disaster recovery
  • Create and manage 24x7x365 on-call rotation
  • Manage the plan, actuals, issues and risks associated with a rapidly increasing infrastructure team and budget.
  • Ownership and maintenance of cloud policies including Data management, DR, Security, etc..
  • Foster a spirit of camaraderie and inclusion within the iQCloud team

Skills and Experience

  • Deep experience in the understanding of cloud technology providers, preferably Amazon AWS.
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services (IAM, ECS, S3, EC2, VPC, Cost, CloudFront,…)
  • Experience with contemporary DevOps and Continuous Delivery techniques.
  • Minimum 8 years managing production support for core, business critical, 24×7 systems (preferably cloud based).
  • Demonstrated leadership in the design and run of SaaS operations for a medium to large software organization.
  • Leadership experience in high stress situations (e.g., outages, degradations, disaster recovery)
  • Knowledge / Experience with reporting and controls e.g. SAS70 (SSAE 16) desirable or ISO, ITIL.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Experience managing and implementing Cloud architectures in a DevOps/Agile methodology
  • Experience managing and developing a team

Reports to:  Technical Sales Director

The Role

The Pre-Sales Technical Consultant will provide in-depth technical assistance and industry best practice knowledge to prospective clients to define high-value solutions. The successful candidate will do this by demonstrating iQuate product capabilities, executing proof-of-concepts and assisting with building integrations between iQuate products and partner technologies, if necessary. The successful candidate must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users to complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The successful candidate will be expected to perform well in a team environment and have exceptional people skills to actively drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. The candidate should also be able to interpret sales metrics and be goal-oriented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite and remote technical product demonstrations directly tied to building partnerships, closing business and driving revenue. 
  • Own the technical dialogue and follow up with prospects, customers & business partners.
  • Own and manage all technical aspects of RFP / RFI responses. 
  • Create specialized product configurations and deliver custom demonstrations to prospective clients within formalized Proof of Concept (POC) engagements. 
  • Technical liaison with partners, engineering, and alliances management to ensure solution success and the identification of future solution opportunities. 
  • Work internally with Support, Engineering & Product Management to ensure prospect and customer requirements are clearly communicated during the sales process. 
  • Work with Support Services post sales to ensure smooth transition to implementation and customer success.

Skills and Experience

  • This role requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science (or similar) and/or four years as a software engineer (or similar role). 
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in Data Center Cloud Services, Service Management/CMDB, or Asset Management applications in a customer or MSP operation
  • Preferred experience with BMC Discovery, IBM TAD4M/Tideway, HP UDiscovery, RiscNetworks, Firescope or similar.
  • Highly experienced at delivering demonstrations and presentations to technical and non-technical, senior individuals. 
  • Experience engaging at a senior technical management level 
  • Sound knowledge of industry best practices such as ITIL and ISO 20000.
